Keynote Speaker

Kathy Thurston will be speaking to us on ‘Showing Great Love’.

“We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19) so we learn love by looking at God’s love and we see God’s love lived out by Jesus. But loving God and loving like Jesus doesn’t come naturally to us. To love like that, we need to “be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19b) and if we could love like that, most of the world’s problems would disappear.

Kathy Thurston

A new stage in Kathy’s life started in 2018 when she and her husband Dave moved to Brisbane from Sydney. She left behind three adult children, legal work, parish ministry and the city of her birth to work with a new ministry called Church2Church, which has commenced out of Creek Road Presbyterian Church. Kathy and Dave believe that God has been preparing them for this new role which allows them to minister to clergy couples through mentoring and supporting them in ministry through great resources and church consultancy. In recent years God has been teaching Kathy that knowing him is what life is all about and we learn that by exploring how wide and long and high and deep God’s love is for us in Jesus.

Dave Thurston

Dave Thurston grew up in Sydney and became a follower of Jesus in 1976. He met Kathy when she was 18 and they were married in 1982 while at Moore Theological College. They have three grown up children and live in Brisbane. Dave and Kathy have served in a variety of Presbyterian parish contexts; county NSW, and church planting in the suburbs and inner city of Sydney and are currently involved in Church2Church Ministry in Queensland. They are committed to being used by the Lord to grow people who are spiritually, emotionally, relationally and theologically healthy in ministry so they in turn can be used by God to grow healthy ministry teams and churches. Dave is the keynote speaker in the Friday evening session. All leaders, ministers, elders and those interested in encouraging women to flourish and grow in God’s grace are invited to attend this event.
